Berber carpet is one of
the oldest stles of carpet and has been around literally for thousands of years. The name Berber comes from the Berber tribes
in north Africa. The original berber fibers were made from wool. Because the average sheep farm had sheep of many different colors, the wool yarns had different color flecks
mixed in.
TODAY
Today, berber
carpet is manufacturerd in many different colors using yarns made from synthetic fibers. Berber is manufacturerd by both high
end manufacturers and lower end apartment grade.
MAINTENENCE
Unlike cut pile carpet which require more vacuuming to "fluff-up" the yarns, berber carpet
is easy to maintain. Before vacuuming, check if there are no yarns or threads sticking up and if so be sure to take a pair
of siccors and trim them prior to vacuuming. Also check the vacuum cleaner hight adjustment. Ideally, the machine is manually
adjustable. Make sure the beater brush does not touch the tops of the yarns.
SUMMARY
Berber carpet will always
